The Radio Academy Awards – formerly known as “the Sony’s” – are the most prestigious radio awards in the media calendar. I’m beyond delighted, proud and genuinely awestruck to announce that, on 12 May 2014, the Digital Human team won the Silver award for Best Speech Programme 2014. Here’s what the judges said:
“An innovative and fascinating series which breaks new ground exploring issues which matter more and more to each of us. Every story had a human dimension and the result was enthralling and enticing radio. It never lectured but it left the listener with a much better understanding of a digital world which, through its technology and its connections, increasingly defines how we live.”
We were up against a phenomenal roster of people – including the Deputy Prime Minster, two multi-award-winning comedians and one of my long-time heroines of the radio waves.
It’s a few months on and I’ve finally got my mitts on mine, and by golly it’s got a very special place on the shelf!
Congratulations to the amazing BBC Scotland team: David Stenhouse, Peter McManus, Victoria McArthur, Kate Bissell, Caitlin Smith and Elizabeth Ann Duffy. A remarkable group of people.

Well done. Am enjoying the Guardian podcasts too.
Congratulations, totally awesome programmes!
Congrats, just discovered these today and found myself listening to 6 episodes in a row. Totally engrossing, you’ve spoilt me for other radio shows.
