I have put all of the authors from the 602 references in my PhD reference manager file into Wordle just to see what would happen. It includes references I’ve not included in the thesis, but is representative of all the papers I’ve read. The image of the references in the PhD is coming next week, after I’ve tagged all the names in that document.
The list of references was compiled between October 2003-July 2009, and shows a tendency towards social identity theorist Michael Hogg, whose writing about leadership and stereotyping informs quite a bit of my work. There’s also quite a lot of Edward Castronova in there, whose research into the economies of virtual worlds inspired my move back into academia. Thanks for that, Ted.
As I’m currently fishing around for externals, this exercise has proven a rather good resource for inspiration!

makes me wish for a citation graphing tool: one that would plot citation links between the papers / authors you input. so you could see not only who you cite most, but also the clusters of academic cliques you wander between.
but that looks like someone else’s phd.
how did I become a Morfoo? doh.
Yishay – You became a Morfoo because i, the web developer, am a dumbass and left a spare foo in the code. I took the liberty of changing you back to a Mor.
